The proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump to provide refuge for the war-torn residents of Gaza in Egypt and Jordan has been rejected by both countries. Similarly, the Palestinian armed group Hamas has also dismissed Trump’s proposal.

In response to a question about whether this could be a temporary or permanent solution for Gaza, which is facing relentless Israeli attacks, countless deaths, and a severe humanitarian crisis, Trump commented, "It’s possible."

Jordan has already provided refuge to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. In Egypt as well, thousands of Palestinian refugees are living in tents. Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab countries have rejected the proposal to relocate Gaza's Palestinians to their territories. The Palestinians of the Gaza Strip want to remain in their homeland as part of a future Palestinian state.

Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has long been advocating for Jewish settlers to establish settlements in Gaza. Welcoming Trump's proposal, he stated, "This is an excellent idea." He also mentioned that he would plan to implement this initiative. However, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has consistently opposed such measures by Smotrich.

A Hamas leader has been expressing concerns for a long time about the permanent displacement of Palestinians from their homes. Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas' political bureau, told Reuters that the Palestinians will not accept any such proposals or solutions. Even if positive intentions, such as those mentioned in U.S. President Trump's proposal, are discussed, it will not be acceptable.

Another Hamas leader, Sami Abu Zuhri, urged U.S. President Donald Trump not to repeat the 'failed' ideas of his predecessor, Joe Biden.

Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters that the people of Gaza have endured indiscriminate killings and have refused to leave their homeland. They will not leave Gaza for any other reason.

Jordan has also rejected Trump's call. The country's foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, told reporters that their stance on the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is firm and resolute.

Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the same position. They stated that the idea of displacing Palestinians from their land is clearly unacceptable, whether in the short term or the long term.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is supported by the West, has also condemned Trump's comments. He said, "Our people will remain steadfast and will not leave their homeland." This statement was published by Palestine's official news agency, Wafa.

Palestinian analyst Ghassan al-Khatib commented, "The Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza, along with the people of Jordan and Egypt, have rejected Trump's proposal. I don't believe there is any real basis for such an idea."

Trump stated that he spoke with Jordan's King Abdullah II last Saturday and told him, "I would be very happy if you provide more refuge to the Palestinians in your country because the Gaza Strip has truly become a wreck."

Trump further mentioned that he would discuss the issue with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Before the Israeli military's war against Hamas began, Gaza had a population of nearly 2.3 million people.
